A Florida court has ordered Canadian Olympic show jumper Eric Lamaze to pay the Rein family more than $5.5 million in damages as a result of a high-profile Eric Lamaze case over horse sales disputes.

The complaint, brought in 2022, focuses on allegations that Lamaze misrepresented the quality and exaggerated the pricing of several horses supplied to the Rein family. According to court filings, the family claimed that Lamaze intentionally provided misleading information and overcharged for horses that were later used in international competition.

In its final decision, the court awarded the Rein family nearly $4.3 million in damages, as well as more than $600,000 in pre-judgment interest and substantial attorney expenses.
